Back Theraphy

Our back is one group of muscles that takes the load of the rest of the body. It is very important to keep the back supple in order to have a good posture and prevent injuries.

The following simple exercises, when done in order, will go a long way in keeping your back healthy:

  1. Palm-tree pose for lengthening the spine will relieve pressure on the nerves and rehydrates spinal discs.
  2. Cat-and-Cow pose : Place your palms below your shoulders and your knees below your hips. It involves alternating between stretching the back and contracting it. By improving the circulation, relieving the back of pain and strain, it prepares you for activity for the rest of the day.
  3. Pawanmuktasana: Lie on your back and hug both your knees to the chest. This gently stretches the lower back and hips, relieving you stress on the lower back.
  4. Spinal twist: Lie on your back with your arms at shoulder-level. Place your right foot on the opposite knee and drop the same knee to the left side. Look in the opposite direction. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat the other side.
  5. Lie on you stomach with your palms beside your chest. Keep your heels together.
    • press the palms against the floor and lift your chest off the floor. Hold for 10 breaths. Repeat twice.
    • press the palms against the floor and, if comfortable, straighten your elbows completely. Hold for 10 breaths.
    • Child's pose : With your arms stretched forward, sit with your hip resting on your heels.

All these postures will release pressure on the back muscles by restoring circulation, increasing flexibility and correcting posture.
